It was now the third week of school. She had introduced herself to all of her six of her suite mates plus her roommate.  Trying to get involved in her school, she found that the school was holding an organization fest. With no real friends yet, she decided to ask her two suite mates that stayed in the same room. The two both accepted her into joining them on the evening's activities.

When she entered the gymnasium there was an abundance of stands set up for most of the organizations offered at the school. There were about close to 100 stands. Music was playing, and people were everywhere, packed tightly in the building. Addition to herself, the two girls had another friend with them that tagged along. He was very mysterious with his low eyes and dreads. Did not speak a word to her the entire time, but was always behind them. When they got inside the first booth they came across was the A.K.A booth. The girls standing at their booth were in their pink and green shirts. After conversating with the girls at the A.K.A stand they continued down the line of stands. As they came down to the last stand of the second row, she spotted him once again. He stood right in front of her. With nowhere to hide, she gave him a hug and spoke.
"Hey" she said to him.
"Hey, what's up! how are you" he responded back
"I'm good, how about you?" she said continuing the small talk.
And that's when he made his move one again. "Good, still waiting for your number. I'm trying to be patient" he said very closely in her ear, with his chest on her.
Shocked by his comment, she said "okay I got you" but, still did not manage to give the guy her number. Walking away she wondered why she just didn't give it to him then, but she didn't know why she did half of the things she did.

Meeting back up with her suitemates, she noticed they had found more of their friends. They were in the photo booth line, waiting to take group pictures. As they waited in line, she grew impatient and more wrapped in the music playing. She began lip singing and dancing a little to the song when she looked up and saw him looking straight at her. Instead of looking away this time, she continued singing and dancing and, smiled at him. Returning the favor he smiled and laughed a little at her.

About a week went by, and she was getting adjusted to her new surroundings. She was very far away from home and didn't know many people. However, she did know two guys from her city that she befriended before coming. One of them, she begin catching feelings for. Perhaps that was the reason she turned down the guy from the cafeteria. She didn't know for sure, so she played it cool until she was certain. One day her guy friend had asked if she had wanted to go eat at the cafeteria. With nothing else to do, she agreed and he met her outside of her dorm building. The cafeteria was about a ten minute walk. Not much when there is great conversation.

As the two begun walking up on the cafeteria, on the bridge in front, where a group of guys. Her friend seemed to know them as he called out to a few of them. Walking up on them, they turned back to see who the familiar voice was and that's when she spotted the same guy in the cafeteria. Her eyes widened, she couldn't believe she actually saw him again. The campus was pretty big, she didn't think she would see him again, especially didn't think he would be friends with the guy she somewhat liked. Playing it cool she continued to walk with her friend. He dapped up his friends and introduced her to the group.
"Aye, this my friend Khali, she's from where I'm from" her friend said.
"Yeah we've already met" the guy from the cafeteria said after licking his lips.
Unsure how to react to the guy, she gave him a hug, like he was an old friend. With nothing to say she said "hey, how are you?" while continuing to walk.
He replied back "good, you?"
Slowly drifting further away she said "good too"
It was the second day of the 2016 school year. She stood in line waiting to get her french fries, while her friend was busy getting a burger. The cafeteria wasn't that great, but it was all they had to work with. Agonized where her friends whereabouts were, she glanced up to search the cafeteria food sections. That's when she saw a dark chocolate boy starring at her. She quickly looked down, continuing to wait for her fries, but with curiosity wanted to see if the guy was still looking. She slowly looked up and to the side, then back where she had seen the guy, and his eyes were still placed upon her. She repeated the action of looking down, and thought to herself "please don't let him try to talk to me". After getting her plate of fries, she walked over to the deli line, close to where she had seen the guy. She waited in line with relief that he was nowhere to be found and her friend had caught back up with her. She placed her order in, and placed her chicken wrap on the grill to heat it. Impatient with the George Former, she continuously lifted the top to check on the wrap. Right as she picked up the wrap and placed it on her plate with fries, she felt a touch on her arm. Not thinking, she turned around swiftly and eyes landed on the guy once again. At one time, almost every emotion ran to her: nervousness, agony, irritation, and delight. "Can I borrow some of your time for just a second" the guy said. She was very impressed with his approach and could see that he was not like the others from where she was from.
"um sure" she replied back, looking back to make sure her friend was still close. The conversation was very brief.
"Hey how are you doing today?" he said to her
"I'm good, how about you?"
"I'm good too, my name is Drew, what's your name ?"
She replied back and said "Khali" unintentionally sizing him up. He was a very nice looking guy and from the looks dressed nice as well too. His dark complexion free of blemishes, went perfect with his straight white teeth.
"Nice to meet you" he said. "I just saw you and wanted to know if maybe I could get your number and we could text sometime?"
Without thinking, the words rolled right off her tongue. "Sorry, I have a boyfriend" It was a huge lie. She had no boyfriend, but why she lied, she didn't know.
"oh okay, well I'll just see you around" his disappointment showed in his eyes and voice.
Instantly she looked for her friend, and to tell her what had happened.
